  • Paediatric Dentistry at Rajan Dental Clinic
    • Our paediatric dentists have undergone extensive and structured training in handling dental problems for children. Some procedures unique for children performed by us are:

      • Habit breaking appliances
      • Pit and fissure sealants
      • Space management
      • Pulpotomy and crowns
      • Fluoride applications
  • Common treatment for children
      • Prevention of tooth decay:

Fluoride treatment : Professional fluoride treatment includes the application of fluoride gel/varnish using trays specially designed for children’s mouths. This is recommended once every 6 months in children with normal teeth and once, every 4 months in children with tooth decay.

Pit and fissure sealants on molar teeth : Primary and young permanent molar teeth are very susceptible to decay, particularly on chewing surfaces. Young permanent molar teeth take several months to mature, and until they do, they should be protected from decay. And while fluoride strengthens the enamel on teeth, it cannot prevent decay on the chewing surface of molars by the same mechanism. Special ‘Pit and fissure sealants’ can be used to cover and seal those risky, deep chewing surfaces of molars, preventing the entrapment of food which causes tooth decay. This simple procedure does not require drilling, and has great preventive benefits.

Professional fluoride treatment, pit and fissure sealants, good oral hygiene and brushing can reduce decay formation, to a great extent.

      • Filling of milk and adult tooth:

Appropriate material is used to fill decayed/broken tooth surfaces, thereby restoring the appearance of teeth and their chewing function.

      • Preventive orthodontics:

This is very useful if carried out at the right time, on the right kids and can reduce/avoid the need for braces later on.

      • Assessment of developing permanent teeth:

In a growing child permanent teeth develop inside their jaws. In some children, teeth might grow at an abnormal position, or may be missing altogether. Early x-rays can pave the way for many options that can prevent major dental abnormalities.

      • Correction of jaw discrepancies:

Early dental checkups help in the detection of jaw size discrepancies, so corrective measures can be taken. There are procedures that can facilitate and encourage jaw growth, thereby preventing major surgical procedures later on.

      • Orthodontic assessment:

An opinion from a specialist orthodontist gives you an idea of whether and when your child would require braces.

      • Habit breaking appliances:

Habits such as thumb sucking, mouth breathing and tongue thrusting, can have harmful effects on kid’s teeth and oral cavity. These can be corrected by using some special appliances.

      • Fitting space maintainers:

Some simple appliances can be placed in the mouth to hold spaces that were previously occupied by milk teeth extracted due to decay. This will help the permanent teeth to grow in the right places.

      • Scaling and polishing of teeth:

This procedure removes plaque and tartar and prevents gum disease.

  • General anaesthesia / Sedation for children
    • Young children requiring extensive dental work can benefit with nitrous oxide sedation (laughing gas) or general anaesthesia as a day care procedure. This makes it more comfortable for the child and allows the completion of all the treatment in a single visit. A state-of-the-art operation theatre and highly qualified / trained paediatric anaesthetists are available in our centre.
