The Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the Rajan Dental Institute has clinicians who are specialists in all aspects of maxillofacial surgery.

• Cleft repair and reconstruction
• Distraction Osteogenesis
• Temporomandibular joint (TMJ) repair aznd reconstruction in patients with TMJ Ankylosis and TMJ disorders
• Removal of erupted and impacted Wisdom teeth
• Dental implants to replace lost or missing teeth
• Facial cosmetic surgery
• Tumour surgery
• Facial trauma reconstruction
• Dentoalveolar surgery
• General anaesthesia and intra-venous sedation
• Reconstruction of the mouth, midface, and upper / lower jaw utilizing bone and/or soft tissue grafts
• Diagnosis and treatment of oral infections and pathology

Modern machines such as the Rapid Prototype machine (Z Corp USA) are used to produce physical hard copies of patient anatomy from CT/MRI scans, which help surgeons to visualize and plan complex surgeries.

Orthognathic surgery deals with the correction of jaw deformities such as –

• Protruded upper and lower jaw
• Under-developed jaws (such as 'bird face' deformity)
• Asymmetry of the jaws
• Long and short face syndromes
