Although it’s fact-based that a twice-yearly dental check-up is essential because they help keep your gums and teeth healthy,  dental visits should be scheduled based on each person’s habits, oral hygiene, and medical conditions. This is the main reason to make sure and schedule your next cleaning after every appointment by consulting with your dentist. 

WHY IS GOING TO THE DENTIST IMPORTANT?
You do need to see a dentist regularly, even though you take good care of your teeth and gums at home. Your dentist will search for concerns you can or may not see or feel. Numerous dental issues are not evident or painful until they are in more advanced stages, such as cavities or the early phases of gum disease. Perhaps in the early stages, the condition may be preventable and more quickly handled. Your dentist will be able to see this and find a way to save more pain for you.

WHO SHOULD GO TO THE DENTIST FREQUENTLY?
Every three months or more, people with a higher risk of dental illness and disorders may need to visit the dentist. This category of people  with higher risk includes:

*The experience when people with a weak immune response to bacterial infection 
*People with diabetes 
*People experiencing gum diseases 
*People who tend to get a build-up plaque or cavities and tartar

On such foods, bacteria that live in the mouth tend to flourish. This results in acids that can damage the tooth enamel and contribute to tooth decay. At any age, tooth decay will happen.

2.Gum diseases : 
A chronic bacterial infection that affects the gums and bone that sustain the teeth is gum (periodontal) disease. Gingivitis, which affects only the gums, is a milder type of gum disease. But gingivitis, called periodontitis, may lead to a more severe, damaging type of gum disease.

WHAT CAN YOU DO TO KEEP DENTIST APPOINTMENTS TO THE MINIMUM?
To keep your required dental appointments to a minimum, the best thing you can do is practice good oral hygiene. Therefore, make sure that you brush your teeth twice a day and floss once a day. If, after a few years, the dentist does not notice any cavities or gingivitis, he or she may opt to prolong the time between visits for their patients. Twice a year is a great place to start when you haven’t known how often you can visit your dentist lately. Ask your dentist at your next appointment how often they recommend that you come in. Never assume that you, on your own, should cut back on your dental appointments. Always follow the advice of your dentist. He or she would know the right timing to help you achieve your best smile on daily basis.

WHAT SHOULD YOU DO BETWEEN DENTAL VISITS?
Make sure to take care of your teeth and gums between scheduled dental appointments. Plaque tends to form continuously, you can handle it by frequently brushing and flossing. For good oral care at home, here are some tips.
*Floss regularly 
*Brush your teeth twice a day. Make sure your toothpaste contains fluoride in it.
