Dental Implants are replacements for tooth roots and missing or damaged tooth. The procedure replaces damaged or missing tooth with metal (Titanium) screw-like posts and artificial ceramic teeth that look and work like any normal tooth, only much better.
The implants could be done for one tooth to several teeth or the entire teeth set. Dental implants are better alternatives to conventional techniques such as ‘bridges’. Due to the great extent of relief offered by this procedure and this being very similar to natural teeth, Dental Implants are seen as a welcome technique desired by many.

Dental Implants work by a process called as osseointegration where the bone cells gets interlocked to the surface of titanium dental implants resulting in union between your bone and the dental implant.

Dental Implants work by a process called as osseointegration where the bone cells gets interlocked to the surface of titanium dental implants resulting in union between your bone and the dental implant.
Dental implants may be an option for people who have lost a tooth or teeth due to gum disease, an injury, aging or any other reason. These are the standard of care for tooth replacement.
Placement of single dental implant placement may generally require about 30 – 60 minutes.
Dental implants treatment consists of two stages
Stage 1 – Implant placement procedure:
The implant placement is performed under local anesthesia or conscious sedation, The Implant specialist reflects your gums and drills a hole into the bone and widens it to place the dental implant. Usually it takes 3- 6 months for the complete union of bone to implant to take place. During this time, temporary bridges or dentures may be used to minimize any cosmetic or chewing inconvenience.
Stage 2 – Prosthetic procedure
Assessment of bone surrounding the implants following which new tooth or teeth can be fixed to the anchored implants(s) in your jaw.
Dental implants are stronger and more durable than dentures or a bridge. They offer a permanent and a more lasting solution to tooth loss.
Bridge usually involves altering / grinding the adjacent natural teeth to provide a foundation for support for the missing teeth. The average life span of a bridge is 10 years, but dental implants last a lifetime. Success rate of the bridge further decrease if root canal teeth support bridges or any of the supporting teeth becomes loose or decayed.
Dentures can be very unstable, and may lead to denture sores or speech difficulties and cause embarrassing situations when they fall out from mouth during speech. Moreover they are do not chewing efficiency like your teeth. These dentures typically last between 3 to 5 years and during that time they often need to be relined (made thicker) as the bone continues to resorb, or deteriorate.
A dental implant has the potential to last a lifetime.
Overall, the success rate for dental implants is high—from 92–98%.
There are several benefits to choosing dental implants such as improved biting and chewing capabilities, cosmetic enhancement, as well as ease in cleaning and maintaining.
Dental implants are made of Titanium alloy.
Dental implants are made of titanium alloy similar to hip implants, shoulder implants, and knee implants, which is highly biocompatible. Any allergy to titanium is extremely rare!
Your teeth that are fixed on to the implant will look and function similar to your natural teeth.
Yes, Dental implants are as good as your natural teeth and they provide full functionality. You can enjoy your favorite food and lead a normal life.
The teeth we fix on top of implant are retained by means of screws.
These are called as Screw retained crowns. The advantages of screw retained crowns are :
We do not do cement retained crowns because of the disadvantages like difficulty in retreivability and problems that occur due to residual cement.
Home care for your implants consists of brushing and flossing. Regular dental visits are required for long-term health and success.
You may return to work the next day unless otherwise instructed by your clinician. You may be prescribed medication to alleviate any minor discomfort you may have.
Although implant failure is considered rare, it can occur. In these cases, the failed implant can be replaced with another.
As with all surgery there is a risk of pain, swelling, bruising, bleeding and infection. All these complications can be avoided when proper diagnostic, sterilization and surgical protocols are followed.
We do have certain advanced treatment options like Bone grafting or All-on-4 or Zygoma implants when the amount of available bone is minimal.
Our Specialist doctor will assess your bone condition after the initial assessment with a help of a Cone beam CT scan and formulate an exact treatment plan for you individually
